It all started when ...

Established in 1990, Zichron Menachem (ZM) is named in memory of Menachem Ehrental, an Israeli boy who battled cancer for over 14 years - from age 18 months until his young death. Drawing on their vast experience as parents of a cancer-stricken child, Menachem's family founded ZM as a non-profit organization aimed at easing the suffering of young cancer patients and their families

ZM’s unique programs and activities help the ill children and their family members cope with this often terrible disease.

ZM has been blessed from the start with many dedicated volunteers. Specially selected and trained ZM volunteers stay with the children at the hospital or keep them company at home, which enables the sick child’s parents to rest, to go to work, or to do errands. Volunteers - under the supervision of professionals in a variety of fields - assist the children at the ZM Day Center, and they accompany the children at ZM camps and outings.

ZM is the first organization of its kind to be established in Israel. ZM operates nation-wide, assisting children who are being treated at 12 different hospitals throughout Israel. ZM supplies its programs and activities completely free-of-charge to this special population, without discrimination regarding religion, ethnic origin or socio-economic status.
