One of the main areas of assistance for these parents of young cancer patients is the establishment of a new support group in the Tel Aviv area.  Dr. Amir Schwartz, a veteran and experienced psychologist in his field, was chosen to lead our newest support group.  Mrs.  Smadar Hermon, who runs a Zichron Menachem branch in greater Tel Aviv, organized dozens of volunteers who recruited the active support of Tel Aviv area hospitals and events centers.  This new support group for parents is given additional backing by the Zichron Menachem National Service volunteers – our “Sherut Leumi” girls – who visit the sick children and their families in the Tel Aviv area several times each week.  We have been pleased to receive a flow of positive feedback from the young cancer patients and their parents, as a result of this new project.
