Workshop participants were young men and women who
volunteer at Z.M. through the National Service-Sherut Leumi program or
through pre-army or yeshiva frameworks.
The facilitator of this leadership training workshop was most pleasantly
surprised by the high levels of team work, serious thinking and creative
solutions that the participants displayed when given series of challenging
assignments to complete.
In analyzing the participants' interactions with each other, the group
facilitator noted behavior which differed greatly from the type found
in hi-tech companies and bank management - where competition can sometimes
be destructive rather than productive.
The Zichron Menachem team-mates revealed competition on a constructive
level. Group members knew how to yield to each other, and they displayed
happiness when their team-mates succeeded in doing a task. In the many
tasks they were given, these young people reached very high scores - which
were also achieved in record time.
While doing these exercises, the young volunteers felt a deep experience
of getting to know each other better in terms of personality and personal
characteristics.
In line with these positive characteristics, one of the participants was
quoted as saying: "as a result of this enriching day, we will be able
to work even better now with those who will actually be the real benefactors
of this training day, namely - the children with cancer, and their families."
The second leadership training group - comprised of our National Service-Sherut
Leumi volunteers - reached similar levels of success, and the participants
expressed similar positive reactions to this invigorating and enriching
day.
This leadership training activity - initiated by Zichron Menachem and
a regular part of our volunteers' ongoing training and supervision - helps
our volunteers to continue to contribute to the many special needs of
children with cancer, in a professional and intensive manner.
