Going along with a longtime tradition, Zichron Menachem
volunteers have been decorating this ward – which is located in
a major medical center in Jerusalem - for the past 12 years, for each
season and every holiday of the year.
Winter, spring, summer and autumn; Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Chanukah,
Tu B’Shvat and Purim; Passover, Israeli Independence Day, Jerusalem
Day and Shavuot: that’s the long list of our decorating project
timetable!
Faithful Zichron Menachem volunteer Shira Gutentag has taken upon herself
the immense responsibility of organizing and implementing this lively
and demanding project. This particular hospital ward serves children
from all over Israel who are struggling to fight the serious and difficult
disease of cancer.
The colorful results of this artistic project provide the hospitalized
children with much joy and excitement. The children’s parents
comment that the decorations in the hospital ward bring them - the parents
- a lot of happiness as well.
The decorated environment inside the ward reminds both the parents
and the young patients that, outside the hospital’s confines,
life goes on and they have been blessed to reach the very important
milestone of celebrating another holiday. With the arrival of each new
holiday and season, these young cancer patients and their families have
an extra-special reason to celebrate together.
