ZM's post-holiday "Simchat Torah" celebrations
The Zichron Menachem children were invited by our friends Eugene and Jean Gluck from the USA to join them at "Hakafot Shni'ot" celebrations in Jerusalem, the night after "Simchat Torah" ended.

Families of Zichron Menachem children, ZM volunteers and Sherut Leumi girls came to the Liberty Bell Park in Jerusalem for this festive occasion. Zichron Menachem was honored with a traditional round of dancing with Torah scrolls.

Celebrants danced in swirling circles with a Torah scroll that was recently donated to Zichron Menachem by the Avnery family, in memory of their daughter Renana. Mr. Motty Avnery, father of the late Renana, was given the honor of dancing with this brand-new scroll. Children were lifted onto the shoulders of Zamzam volunteers, and Jerusalem was “full of rejoicing and happiness.”

After the extended Simchat Torah dancing, all the ZM guests were invited to a festive dinner in Jerusalem at the “Shipudei Hagefen” restaurant, where they were taken for a surprise birthday party for a young Zamzam girl, four-year old Tamar. The meal came to an exciting conclusion with more treats: Tamar’s birthday cake was accompanied by sparklers and everyone singing “Happy Birthday!”

We will be celebrating Tamar’s birthday next week in a larger format at the ZM Day Center, with guest performer “Matok the Magician” performing magic tricks for Tamar, her guests and the Zamzam Sherut Leumi volunteers.
